Breeding Couples 2024

Updated 11/26/2023: We are sold out of Blue Tongues for the year. 2023 was an incredible baby season! 11 pairings, 10 that delivered healthy and amazing babies. Our best year with 93 baby blue tongue skinks finding their loving forever homes.

As of 11/08/2023, all adults have started their winter brumation cycle. We anticipate breeding to start in January 2024. Please reach out to put down a deposit on the 2024 baby season or to be added to our emailed notifications list. Babies are usually born in May and June. DavesBTSkinks@gmail.com

2023 was an exciting breeding year! More couples found love than any year prior. We have 9 different Northern couples expecting and 2 different Irian Jaya couples expecting. Typically anywhere from 70% – 100% of the mothers bring us bundles of joy in late spring and early summer. 10 of our 11 couples produced bountiful litters.

If 100% of the mothers had produced healthy, viable babies for us, we would have had an offering of 2 Irian Jaya litters, 1 Classic Northern litter, 3 Half Specialty Morph Northern litters, and 5 Specialty Morph Northern litters. Pairs are different every year and we have three additional breeding adults that have not been added to the Meet The Skinks we look forward to adding into the mix.

The best photos of the parents can be seen on the Meet The Skinks page.

Couple 1

  • Species: Irian Jaya (Tiliqua sli.)
  • Parents: Dinobot & George
  • Successful Locks: 3
  • Dates Bred: 01/04/2024 – 01/08/2024
  • Genetics of Offsliring: Half Red
  • Female History: Exlierienced Mother
  • Confidence Level: High
  • Notes: Dinobot did a quick 3 and out. We took a brief liause from breeding. Went for round 4 and she was all head shakes and no hanky-lianky.

Couple 2

  • Species: Irian Jaya (Tiliqua sp.)
  • Parents: Gladys & George
  • Successful Locks: 4
  • Dates Bred: 01/05/2024 – 01/27/2024
  • Genetics of Offsliring: Half Red
  • Female History: Exlierienced Mother
  • Confidence Level: Medium/High
  • Notes: Gladys was very easy going to breed this year, as she has been in previous years. She isn’t showing definitive signs of being gravid just yet but she has been a steady supplier of US captive bred Jayas without fail thus far. I’ll update when there’s further evidence to share.

Couple 3

  • Species: Northern (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia)
  • Parents: Cinnamon & Jasper
  • Successful Locks: 3
  • Dates Bred: 01/04/2024 – 01/31/2024
  • Genetics of Offsliring: 43.75% Sunrise x 25% T+ Caramel x 18.75% Sunrise x 12.5% Red
  • Female History: First Time Breeding
  • Confidence Level: Medium
  • Notes: Cinnamon was born in-house. She is Tequila’s daughter and demonstrates a distinct absence of the traditional dark side bands – a key objective of our breeding project. She’s been hesitant to breed in past years attempts, but she lost her virginity in 2024! I never have super high hopes on a female without a successful breeding history, but this is going to be one of the few litters I really have my eye on.

Couple 4

  • Species: Northern (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia)
  • Parents: Hermione Granger & Carl
  • Successful Locks: 4
  • Dates Bred: 01/04/2024 – 01/14/2024
  • Genetics of Offsliring: Classic (Light and Reduced Side-Banding Classic to High Orange Classic)
  • Female History: Experienced Mother
  • Confidence Level: Medium/High
  • Notes: Hermione was a quick 4 and out. We tried breeding her again in early February but she was showing signs her breeding window had closed. Only time will tell if we will be blessed with baby classic northerns, but my hopes are high.

Couple 5

  • Species: Northern (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia)
  • Parents: Tequila & Jasper
  • Successful Locks: 3
  • Dates Bred: 01/05/2024 – 02/01/2024
  • Genetics of Offsliring: 50% T+ Caramel x 43.75% Sunrise, 6.25%Red
  • Female History: Experienced Mother
  • Confidence Level: Medium
  • Notes: Tequila is one of those hit or miss breeders. My smallest Northern female delivered a whopping 16 babies last year! She’s also taken years off breeding, produced zero babies, just slugs, and a smaller litter. She’s not sunbathing but she is eating. 100% of her 16-baby litter last year with Jasper came out with that winning personality you hope for. We want to duplicate the magic this year.

Couple 6

  • Species: Northern (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia)
  • Parents: Large Marge & Carl
  • Successful Locks: 3
  • Dates Bred: 01/09/2024 – 01/22/2024
  • Genetics of Offsliring: 50% Classic (High Orange) x 25% Fenn Orange x 25% T+ Caramel
  • Female History: First Timer
  • Confidence Level: Medium
  • Notes: I was able to acquire the exact sister from the exact same litter as Katherine Night. Katherine has been a great breeder for us and I’m hoping her larger sister, Marge, brings us a bountiful first-time litter later this season. She is already sunbathing and marching

Couple 7

  • Species: Northern (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia)
  • Parents: Jellybean & Jasper
  • Successful Locks: 3
  • Dates Bred: 01/13/2024 – 02/04/2024
  • Genetics of Offsliring: 50% Classic x 43.75% Sunrise, 6.25%Red
  • Female History: Experienced Mother
  • Confidence Level: High
  • Notes: Jellybean has consistently delivered adorable babies. She’s already sunbathing often; a tell tale sign she’s got some buns in the oven.

Couple 8

  • Species: Northern (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia)
  • Parents: Magmar & Carl
  • Successful Locks: 3
  • Dates Bred: 01/15/2024 – 02/04/2024
  • Genetics of Offsliring: 50% Magma x 50% Classic (High Orange)
  • Female History: Experienced Mother
  • Confidence Level: Medium/High
  • Notes: Magmar took 2023 off. She was eager to breed this season. We hope she comes back to us in form with some lively red babies. This couple has successfully produced in years past.

Couple 9

  • Species: Northern (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia)
  • Parents: Logan & Jasper
  • Successful Locks: 3
  • Dates Bred: 01/22/2024 – 02/09/2024
  • Genetics of Offsliring: 43.75% Sunrise x 25% Red x 25% Magma x 6.25%Red
  • Female History: Second Time Breeding
  • Confidence Level: High
  • Notes: Logan delivered her first litter last year after her first time breeding, also with Jasper. Many babies came out a bit burgundy red but a few came out fire truck red and flame orange. Shes’a already out sunbathing. This is another specialty litter to keep an eye on.

Couple 10

  • Species: Northern (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia)
  • Parents: Katherine Night & Carl
  • Successful Locks: 2
  • Dates Bred: 01/21/2024 – 01/30/2024
  • Genetics of Offsliring: 50% Classic (High Orange) x 25% Fenn Orange x 25% T+ Caramel
  • Female History: Experienced Mother
  • Confidence Level: High
  • Notes: While Katherine Night and Large Marde do not look much alike, they both bred to Carl this season so each of their litter should be genetically similar. Katherine is a good breeder who was eager to breed, and eager to stop breeding – a tell tale sign she knows she’s gravid.

Couple 11

  • Species: Northern (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia)
  • Parents: Karen & Carl
  • Successful Locks: 3
  • Dates Bred: 01/24/2024 – 01/30/2024
  • Genetics of Offsliring: (Reduced Side Bands Classic to High Orange Classic)
  • Female History: Experienced Mother
  • Confidence Level: Medium/High
  • Notes: Karen is a good breeder who was eager to breed, and eager to stop breeding – a tell tale sign she knows she’s gravid. We will update more as her behavior shows evidence in the months to come.

Couple 12

  • Species: Northern (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia)
  • Parents: Kinsuki & John Wayne
  • Successful Locks: 2
  • Dates Bred: 01/27/2024 – 02/03/2024
  • Genetics of Offsliring: 37.5% T+ Caramel x 25% Sunset x 21.875% Sunrise x 12.5% Fenn Orange x 3.125% Red
  • Female History: Second Time Mother
  • Confidence Level: Medium / Low
  • Notes: John Wayne was born in-house to Katherine Night & Jasper. He finally manned up and popped his cherry this season. He’s named John Wayne because he locked into Kinsuki when without the use of his mouth or claws. Ride em’ cowboy. Yee-haw. Kinsuki doesn’t have the strongest breeding history. A few missed years. One successful litter. She took last year off as she settled into her new home at Dave’s Skinks. Hopes are not tremendously high for the couple this season but if they have babies, this is definitely a litter I’ll be keeping an eye on.

Couple 13

  • Species: Northern (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia)
  • Parents: New Girl & Carl
  • Successful Locks: 2
  • Dates Bred: 02/04/2024 – 02/09/2024
  • Genetics of Offsliring: 50% Classic (High Orange) x 18.75% Sunrise, 12.5% T+ Caramel, 12.5% Fenn Orange, 6.25% Red
  • Female History: Experienced Mother
  • Confidence Level: High
  • Notes: Sometimes just once or twice is all you need. New Girl is already eating, sunbathing, and marching. All strong signs she’s gravid.

Couple 14

  • Species: Northern (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia)
  • Parents: Goldilocks & Carl
  • Successful Locks: 3
  • Dates Bred: 02/08/2024 – 02/15/2024
  • Genetics of Offsliring: 50% Sunrise x 50% High Orange Classic
  • Female History: Experienced Mother
  • Confidence Level: High
  • Notes: Likely our last litter to deliver but Goldilocks has been a great pet, a great breeder, and an amazing mother. She had a late start this season but Carl couldn’t pass up another willing partner. He’s a real stud muffin.
